The students at University of Nairobi made a courtesy call on the President Dr. Yukio Tanizawa on 8th September, 2023.

We are currently working to develop human resources who can contribute to practicing One Health with a global perspective through student exchange with the University of Nairobi as part of the “Inter-University Exchange Project” adopted by MEXT.

This year, four fourth-year students in Veterinary Medicine and Prof. Gitau are visiting Japan for two weeks from Monday 4 to Friday 15 September to meet and mingle with our students, visit some facilities and attend the intensive course called Practice of Infectious Diseases Control at the Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The Nairobi students, who were in their fifth day in Japan, introduced themselves in their newly-learnt Japanese, talked about their impressions of Yamaguchi and the differences between Japan and Kenya. They enjoyed the conversation with the President in a friendly atmosphere from start to finish. Prof. Gitau also made a number of suggestions to further promote inter-university exchanges, which proved to be very useful for the University as it aims to strengthen university-wide networks with Africa in the future.
